Listed by Private Islands Inc. for US $100M, Ronde Island in Grenada now carries the highest price tag of any island on the international real estate market. Exceeding 2,000 acres in size, it is also the largest privately-owned island for sale in the Caribbean.

According to Trevor David, Ronde Island’s thousands of acres offer a rare opportunity for extensive development. “The island is completely untouched, a blank canvas in an area of the Caribbean that is growing in popularity for vacationers,” he says. “And the government of Grenada is very friendly to foreign investment.” Chris Krolow offers his take on the island’s potential. “This is a region currently seeing billions of dollars in investment in resort projects, seasonal homes, and even golf courses,” says Krolow. “There are precedents for success with large-scale developments. Donald Trump owns one of the world’s premier golf resorts just up the Grenadine chain, and of course there is also Mustique, the world-famous private island resort.”
There are many reasons for the rising popularity of the Grenadines, says the island’s broker. “Fantastic sailing and fishing, a relaxed lifestyle, and more affordable prices than many neighboring countries are drawing in tourists and those searching for second or third homes,” explains David. “Ronde Island could encompass not only marinas and hotels, but entire resort towns.” Krolow agrees with this vision for the island. “I could easily see Ronde Island becoming a highly popular spot to vacation- or even live,” he says.
According to Chris Krolow, establishing prices for private islands is not always simple. “Real estate evaluations are based on comparables”, he says. “But nothing compares to the largest island available in the whole Caribbean.” However, he says that Ronde Island has significant advantages over other islands that have been known as the most expensive on the market. “It’s all about potential,” he says. “Ronde has a location three hours from Miami, an astonishing amount of developable land, and is under a stable government. The possibilities are limitless.”
